Spanish Inspiration

I’ve been to Spain for a week to stay with mum & dad, and the garden was full of flowers that looked like they could be turned into polymer clay canes. Flowers like these:

My first effort went like this:

flower bead - first attempt

The cane’s colours are actually more true-to-life than they appear in the photo, but the centre of the flower loses detail when the cane is reduced. As it happens I wasn’t going for an accurate representation of the centre of the flower anyway, so I decided to create a new version of the cane but with a simpler centre:

flower bead - second attempt

All in all I’m fairly pleased with the effect, considering it’s only my second attempt. Hopefully next time will be even better…
