100 Days of Polymer Clay Necklaces: “73”

73 days to go until the polymer clay cruise – and here is the latest necklace in my “100 Days” challenge

This time I’ve made a beaded necklace with a blue flower focal bead, with other beads dangling from it:

I wish my photography was better, because these photos make it look like a greeny-brown thing that I’ve dredged up from the bottom of a pond. But in real life it’s not that bad!

Just a quick one today, as I’ve started to mark A-level papers. For the next couple of weeks I will simultaneously be marking exams and working on my own MSc project (as well as making a necklace per day), so I may have to come up with some more quick necklaces in the meantime…

Anyway, this necklace is made up of three blue flower beads secured in place with tiny metal crimps on either side, plus some glass beads that are just held in place by knots:

Similar design (and exactly the same technique) as yesterday (day “76”), but this time with more effort put into the chain that the pendant hangs from*.

This is definitely an improvement on yesterday’s effort because one or two of the main flowers yesterday were obscured by other parts of the design. And I quite like the diagon-ality of today’s design as well:

* or the chain from which the pendant hangs, if you prefer the gramatically-correct version:)

This heart pendant is about 5cm across and is really chunky (about 1cm at its thickest point). The inside is just scrap clay, and the outside has thin layers of flower canes etc. applied to it.

It hangs from just a plain piece of black cotton thong:

It’s a giant lentil bead:

Love the swirly pattern but somehow I managed to trap some air bubbles in it, which spoils the effect a bit. I thought I’d tried really hard not to get any bubbles in it, too! Ho hum, try even harder next time…

To me this looks more like a giant earring or hair ornament than a necklace, but on the other hand it was inspired by some of the ancient necklaces that I found in the ‘World of Necklaces’ book that I borrowed from the library the other day:

Easy peasy necklace today, made with swirly marbled blue beads strung onto some beading wire with lots of blue glass beads.

I honestly never do get tired of marbled beads. It wouldn’t surprise me if a lot more of the next 78 necklaces included them!
